New Finger Hinge Design
Relating to the desired improvements in the finger design from the first prototype.
The finger hinge joint has been completely redesigned.
This new joint is designed to be modular and use an internal torsion spring to return each joint to its straight position.
Based around an M3 screw (This may be replaced by a custom turned 3mm rod) the design will bolt onto each part of the finger, allowing different parts to be replaced and changed without removing the entire part of the finger.
The new hinge may be too thin for PLA printing, however the carbon fibre reinforced nylon printing available can increase this strength.
Additionally, the hinge will be reinforced by the finger itself so the joint will not have to deal with lateral forces alone, instead these will be transferred throughout the entire finger.
