After testing the PLA finger, the hinge was effective. However, ware was noticeable quite quickly.

Even in Nylon, the hinge did not stand up to much ware.

And so, a rotating hinge design was made next.

The first design I printed was in PLA plastic and uses a Live hinge design.

A key part of this project is designing an ergonomic, human-like hand with fingers that translate operator movements in a convenient way.

And so, the finger design is vital, as well as the sensing and movement.

As part of my undergraduate mechatronics degree, I will conduct my own, independant research project. refered to as a 3rd year project.
